The journal cover was our first experience with the vinyl cutter. We were overlooked by an instructor for the majority of the time we worked on this project. The main objective of this project was to give us a chance to learn how to use the vinyl cutter and the software that goes along with it, so that we were prepared for our solo project.
Using the vinyl cutting software, my group wrote out all of our names to print out on the vinyl. All of the names came out in a single piece, and it needed to be cut apart into the individual names. Once all of the names were separated, each one of us were able to start the process of putting our names on our journals. First we had to remove all of the extra vinyl so that only our names remained on the adhesive sheet. Then using transfer tape and a lot of applied pressure, we put the tape over our names to remove the letters from the adhesive backing. Then, all we had to do was put the tape on the front of our journal, apply pressure in order to get our name to stick to the front of the journal, and remove the tape.
